World famous Hungarian artist, Vera Molnár (1924-) has been living in France since 1947, and is one of the indisputable pioneers of computer art, and was the founder of the “Groupe de Recherche d'art Visuel” (GRAV) in 1960. From 1959, Molnár started making combinatorial images and modelling mathematical regularities using the method he called "machine imaginaire", and very early on, in 1968, she was given the opportunity to work with a computer to replace the imagined machine with a "machine réelle", that is, a real one.
The algorithmic randomness of the computer plays a key role in his works, and the important concepts of his art are order and disorder, structure and freedom.
